Twin Atlantic are an “alt rock” group from Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in 2006, the group haves very distinct sound, which can in part be attributed to the thick Scottish accent on the vocals. This give a raw quality to each of their songs which is a nice change to a lot of vocals you hear on the radio and not dissimilar to Biffy Clyro (a previous artist of the week).

As support grew after the release of their first few EPs, they booked the supporting act slots for both Smashing Pumpkins and Biffy Clyro in 2008 as well as having their music regularly played on “Kerrang!”.

The groups debut mini-album “Free” was released in 2009 and had two singles, “Lightspeed” and “You’re turning into John Wayne”. In the same month they released this album they played a sold out headline show before going on tour, playing festivals such as Download, T in the Park and Sonisphere before going on tour with Taking Back Sunday as their supporting act. Possibly their biggest achievement off the back of all this work to this point was securing the supporting act slot for the Scottish leg of Blink-182’s reunion tour or announcing that they would be supporting My Chemical Romance on three tour dates in the near future.

As time went on they performed at more and more festivals and toured with more artists. In 2014, Zane Low debuted “Heart and Soul” as “Hottest Record in the World” on Radio 1. The single went on to win “Best Independent Track” at the Association of Independent Music awards. The groups success only grew from there. In 2016, their track “No Sleep” debuted as “Hottest Record in the World”, this time with Annie Mac. Later that year they made their UK TV debut on “Later…with Jules Holland”

The bands latest album, “Power”, was released on January 24th this year and is without a doubt one of their best yet. The album’s single “Novocaine” tells the story of the first time lead singer, Sam McTrusty, met his wife and is a powerful song with brilliant lyrics and I fully recommend that you check it out :))
