Jessie J (aka Jessica Ellen Cornish) is a British singer-songwriter. She first entered the UK charts back in 2010 with her hit single “Do It Like a Dude” which reached an impressive number two. She followed it up with what is widely regarded as her most famous solo track, “Price Tag”, which also became her first number one single.
Both of these singles feature on her first album “Who You Are”. One song that Jessie wrote for this album but never recorded was “Party in the USA” which may be more familiar to you as a Miley Cyrus hit. Jessie J wrote the song, with slightly different original lyrics whilst in a studio session with Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly. After the song was finished it was decided that the sound wasn’t “cool” enough for Jessie’s album and the song was altered and handed to Miley Cyrus, who made it a chart topper and put Jessie J on the map as a song writer.
It was after the release of her first album that Jessie J began to get bigger around the world. By the time she had released her next two albums, she was reaching a new peak in her career. Whilst writing some of her biggest hits, Jessie J appeared as a coach on “The Voice UK”. Later in her career she would also go on to appear as a coach on “The Voice Australia“ and “The Voice Kids UK”. She released global sensation “Bang Bang” in 2014, a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande. This topped charts around the globe. As did box office smash, “Pitch Perfect 2” (2015), which Jessie had a hand in writing the soundtrack for”. A combination of these things really planted her in the music scene around the globe, from America to Asia.

In 2018 she accepted an invitation to appear on China’s “Singer”, a singing competition, not dissimilar from “The X Factor”, in which professional singers compete against one another. As well as singing her own hits, Jessie covered some absolute bangers including Whitney Houston’s “I have nothing if I don’t have you”. After several weeks against some tough competition, Jessie walked away with first place.
She then released her fourth studio album in four parts. Entitled “R.O.S.E” (Realisations, Obsessions, Sex and Empowerment) the album was released across 4 days. Each part of the album had four new tracks for fans to enjoy and each one was an absolute beauty.
Jessie J’s most recent musical release was single “Man With the Bag”. Although this track only reached 70 on the UK charts it is still a fantastic cover of a classic Christmas hit.
Fans are still loving both the album and the single but we are waiting excitedly to see what is next for this incredible artist.
